A God Sized Encounter

Screenshot_2014-09-09-07-00-21-1I’m not sure where to begin with this blog post, I am only aware of a deep need within me to write it.

At church tonight we learned about some transitions that are taking place, ALL wonderfully great things! One Pastor spoke with us about the changes with love, grace and unity. Another Pastor gave a powerful message on, well, power. There was electricity in the air, there was transparency, there was depth, there was love, grace and raw emotion. Or, maybe it was just me.

After the message we had a time of worship. The lights were low and I sat with my eyes closed allowing the sweet sound of worship to flow over me. Before I knew what was happening I was completely overcome by tears.

Several years ago a sweet young girl, who is now a beautiful young lady, and who attended a tween Bible study I hosted in my home, would ask for prayer for her family to know Jesus. Week after week this was her prayer. It was as I sat reflecting back that the realization hit me. A few months ago a family member of this young lady began attending church and brought with her another family member. Tonight she came with two more family members.

There I sat completely overwhelmed by God’s faithfulness, his grace and his love, when I felt a gentle touch on my hand. I opened my eyes and a dear sweet friend of mine had brought me communion and shared a word of encouragement with me. If I was overcome and overwhelmed before, I was now completely wrecked. You see, my friend’s word was about answer to another long-standing prayer. I sat and cried unashamed as wave after wave of God’s goodness washed over me. But, God wasn’t done yet. As I sat with my head bowed in complete and utter awe of my Jesus, I felt an arm go around my shoulders and another dear sweet friend began praying over me. She held me in her embrace and simply prayed without any hurry to finish, allowing the Holy Spirit to guide her words.

“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. “By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:34, 35.

Tonight I experienced John 13:34, 35 in a new and profound way. A shift has happened in me. I don’t know what that looks like or even how to explain it, all I know is I had to write about it.

The poor, deluded fool feeds on ashes. He is trusting something that can give him no help at all. Yet he cannot bring himself to ask, “Is this thing, this idol that I’m holding in my hand, a lie?” Isaiah 44: 20 (NLT).

Papa, whether we hold idols in our hands, or in our heart. If we cling to idols in our actions or our thoughts, on behalf of those who are yet to know You through your beloved Son Jesus, I ask for your forgiveness. And, for those of us who are your children, on our behalf I confess and repent. Thank you for showing us the idols in our life, for your unending grace and mercy and Holy Spirit thank you for your constant help in turning away from anything that is not of Jesus Christ. May we always be aware and see the glory of your light shining on all your creation! In Your life-giving Name, Jesus, Amen.

Eviction Served!

Does anyone else feel Fall allergies are exceptionally wretched this year?! Unfortunately, I have been afflicted with year round allergies and allergy induced asthma for many years. I never asked for allergies/asthma, who would or does?!!! And, I don’t refer to them as my allergies or my asthma because I don’t own them. In fact, they have overstayed their welcome and I hereby declare an eviction notice to them! That is my new prayer battle cry, “eviction served!”

I believe God chooses different ways to heal us. Maybe its a miraculous healing, well any healing is miraculous, I’m thinking of Divine touch here; He has given us doctors and treatments and natural remedies and the ultimate healing is when we are Home with Him! While we are still here on earth it is our responsibility to follow his lead in whatever that looks like.

Those of you who know me, know that I don’t like, despise actually, taking prescription medication. Hold on, don’t get your feathers ruffled. There are many prescription medications that work wonders for those who must take them, myself included and especially during times like Fall allergies. However, I continue to research natural and homeopathic remedies that I supplement with in addition too and until I can completely come off prescription medication. Yes, I am holding out for my miraculous healing from the afflictions of allergies and asthma here on earth as it already is in heaven. In the meantime I found some natural remedies that I thought I would share with you. As with all things medicinal please check with your doctor first before taking.

Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen.
