Every Act Of Love

Over the past several months God has been speaking to me about love. Not just love but loving deeply, loving beyond myself, loving even if love is never reciprocated. As I reflect this morning I realize that this new awareness of God connects back to when I first began asking Him what it looks like to be more intimate with him and God is shaking the foundation of what I thought love looked like.

Yesterday I came across Psalm 149:6-8.

May the praise of God be in their mouths and a double-edged sword in their hands, to inflict vengeance on the nations and punishment on the peoples, to bind their kings with fetters, their nobles with shackles of iron.

When I first read this my initial thought was that this doesn’t sound very loving. Then Holy Spirit began speaking to me to write these verses in my book of prayers to remind me to pray for the lost and not just the lost outside the Church but the lost within as well. He reminded me that God’s word is sharper than any double-edged sword and the sword in my hand and in your hand is the word of God. And we can give God’s word back to him as a prayer from our heart.

Certainly, I am not praying that God will inflict vengeance on the nations and punishment on the peoples, but we can praise God that he has equipped us with the sharpest sword and with our sword we can pray not just for the lost but for any situation that may seem hopeless and find hope in the truth of his word.

Blessed are all who fear the LORD, who walk in obedience to him. You will eat the fruit of your labor; blessings and prosperity will be yours. Psalm 128:1,2.

  1. Aw, but there are many examples where God has allowed one nation to overthrow another to teach lessons. This has even happened more than once with Israel over time. God’s plans are far too high for us to understand, but His will is to be done!

    Have a super day, Terese…

    1. So true Steve! His vengeance can be used to draw others to him. Thank goodness his thoughts and ways are higher than mine!! A spiffy dinkle day and wonderful weekend to you, Steve!

      1. Wow, Terese…a “spiffy dinkle day…LOL!” I love that. Sounds like a perfect name for a Pixar character of some sort!

Well, since you said it, you have a spiffy dinkle day yourself…a bunch of ’em…and we’ll talk again soon, haha 🙂
