Hope for Today will inspire you to live a life connected to Christ by empowering you to fall in love with Jesus through personal spiritual growth. Teaching you the power of your identity and authority in Christ. Encouraging you in your inheritance as an ambassador for the kingdom of God!
Late night phone calls, text messages or knocks on the door are not something many of us want to receive, especially as a parent. Last night one of my best friends sent me a late night text and she simply stated, “miss you. love you. praying.” My first thought was, “Why is she up so late praying?” But instinctively I knew why. I started praying also and within minutes God answered our prayers. (He has always been faithful to answer this particular prayer).
This is how the Body of Christ is meant to operate. That we are so attuned to HIS voice and desire nothing more than to be obedient to His call.
It is our responsibility to take care of God’s House first, so when can experience healing, deliverance, and grow in the knowledge of the power that lives within us. To grasp onto this overwhelming truth that the same power that raised Christ from the dead lives in each believer, who has called on the Name of the Lord Jesus, as their Lord and Savior.
Precious Ones, please, I can’t encourage you often enough, stay connected to Jesus through practicing spiritual disciplines of reading and studying his word, prayer, praise and worship. Yes, we are no longer under the laws of the Old Testament, and, yes, we are covered by the love and grace of the New Testament, but that doesn’t mean we, “throw the baby out with the bath water.” How are we to disciple one another, let alone a lost and hurting world, if we’re not connected daily and consistently to The Vine? This is not to make you feel badly about what your time with God currently looks like, rather, encouragement to ask God how he wants your time with him to look. I can guarantee you it will include being in His word.
Let’s acknowledge that trials, challenges and deep struggles are simply a part of life this side of eternity. And that is not to diminish what you are going through or have been through, believe me, I know and understand. But what if we changed our perspective? What if we looked at the trials of this life as a bed full of wildflowers? Can you see the endless possibilities of miracles in your midst?
God will never leave you or forsake you. Rest in His peace that you will find in His word. Let him battle for you as you take refuge in Him. Allow him to give you rest for your weary soul. One of His greatest desires is to take care of you and guide your steps with His marvelous light. Will you let him? Will you open up your hands, that you have held so tightly closed, and say, “Here, Father, I give you whatever I think I have control over”? Rest now child as he sings over you with a heavenly song of love.
When you’re ready to leave Egypt behind, open your arms wide and turn your hands to receive, because just as God caused the Israelites to plunder the Egyptians without lifting a finger in battle, He will cause you to plunder what you’re about to leave behind. Hidden in all the chaos, disruption and distraction of captivity is a chest full of magnificent treasure waiting to be opened by you. A gift of blessings from God to you at His appointed time.
You are a remnant of the ancient Israelites and God is the same yesterday, today and forever. What He did for his children then, he is still doing for his children now.
Are you stuck in Egypt? I have been and not just once but on several occasions. How many times have I sojourned away only to find myself right back in the circumstances I so longed to be done with? And, like the ancient Israelites, I cried out to God, “Don’t you see what I’m going through?” “Don’t you care?” “God, WHERE are You?!” And every time I would leave, I would complain that things weren’t any better on the outside, and although the circumstances in Egypt were anything but ideal, I kept going back because at least I knew what to expect in captivity even if it was spiritually unhealthy. Leaving meant taking a substantial, huge, ginormous, (how many adjectives do I need to use here?!), venture in faith.
One day I was finally tired of yo-yoing back and forth, back and forth, (that and the Holy Spirit had been nudging me for months to explore what was beyond my captivity). With some help from my spiritual father and a whole lot of Jesus, I packed my bags and never looked back!
Have you over stayed your welcome in Egypt? I encourage you with these words of Moses.
“The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still.” Exodus 14:14.
One of my favorite things to teach on is identity in Christ. Oh boy, did I need to read this verse today! It is so easy for so many of us to fall into seeking the approval of man, especially when we are struggling with a trial in our life. Rather than continue to turn toward God and His comfort, we tend to turn toward others to fill us up with the “atta boy” or “good job!” Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with encouraging one another, we are called to encourage each other. Barnabas was a great encourager to the brethren. Where we become open prey for the enemy is when we begin to idolize the praises of man over simply being obedient to what God has called us to do.
Father I bind my will to your will and righteousness and I loose from me the approval and praises of man. It isn’t about me, I am simply a vessel you choose to work through. It is about your glory, your kingdom and the salvation of your creation. In Christ’s Name, Amen.
Godless chatter includes gossip, negative self-talk, swearing, course joking, and sarcasm. Stay connected to the Vine. Tether yourself around His waist. Bind your will to God’s will and righteousness, your mind and heart to Christ ‘s mind and heart and your ears to the voice of the Holy Spirit and loose from yourself all godless chatter.
I can’t recall all the times I have tired to force God’s hand for His will for my life. Waiting on God is one of the hardest things to do! As I continue to grow in His wisdom and maturity, I am learning to rest in His perfect plan, His perfect timing, and His perfect will.
